🛠️ Quick Tip Tuesday: The #1 Swing Fix for Amateurs - The Dreaded Slice
Ah, the slice. It's the bane of many amateur golfers' existence, sending balls veering off into the trees or out of bounds.
But what if I told you that one of the biggest culprits behind this frustrating shot is often a simple setup issue?
The Problem: Many golfers, in an attempt to hit the ball harder, set up with their shoulders aligned to the left of the target (for right-handed golfers). This "open" shoulder alignment promotes an outside-to-in swing path, which is a primary cause of the slice.
The Tactic/The Fix: Before you swing, take a moment to ensure your shoulders are square to your target line. A great way to check this is to place a club across your shoulders and see where it's pointing. It should be parallel to your target line, not pointing to the left of it.
Why it works: Squaring your shoulders helps you create a more neutral, inside-to-out swing path. This allows the club to approach the ball from the correct angle, making it much easier to hit a straight shot or even a slight draw.
⏱️ Weekly Drill: The "Gate Drill" for a Straighter Ball Flight
This drill is a fantastic way to train your swing path and get instant feedback on whether you're coming over the top.
Set up two headcovers (or any two small objects) on the ground, creating a "gate" just wide enough for your clubhead to pass through.
Place your ball in the middle of the gate.
Practice hitting shots through the gate. If you hit the outside headcover, you're coming over the top (slicing). If you hit the inside headcover, you're coming too far from the inside (hooking).
The goal is to swing through the gate without hitting either headcover. This will help you groove a more neutral swing path and a straighter ball flight.
This drill will help you:
Develop a more consistent, on-plane swing.
Eliminate your slice by preventing an outside-to-in swing path.
Get instant feedback on your swing path without needing a coach.

🏌️♂️ Mike's Gear Corner #1: The Weatherman Golf Umbrella – The Storm Test
Golf Friends, Mike here with a story that'll make you rethink cheap umbrellas forever.
Two weeks ago, I got caught in what can only be described as a meteorological nightmare. 45 mph winds, sideways rain, and me on the 14th tee with six holes to go. My playing partners were ready to call it quits.
But here's what happened: While their umbrellas turned inside out and one literally snapped in half, my Weatherman Golf Umbrella stood there like it was enjoying a gentle spring breeze.
The Real Test Results:
Survived 45+ mph winds: Not even a wobble while others were chasing umbrella pieces across the fairway
Kept me bone dry: The Teflon coating is no joke – water just rolls off like it's afraid to stick around
Became the group shelter: All four of us ended up huddled under this thing
The Unexpected Bonus: The UPF 50+ sun protection saved me during a scorching practice session last week. It's like having a portable shade tree that actually works.
My Updated Verdict: This isn't just an umbrella – it's golf insurance. When the weather turns nasty, you'll be the hero of your foursome.
Ready to weather any storm on the course?
Trust me, your future self will thank you when everyone else is running for cover.
🧠 Rookie Rounds Take: Why consistency beats distance
It's easy to get caught up in chasing more distance.
We all want to hit the ball a mile. But the truth is, for most amateur golfers, consistency is the key to lower scores.
A straight 220-yard drive is almost always better than a 250-yard drive in the trees.
Focus on a smooth, repeatable swing, and you'll see your scores drop faster than if you just try to swing out of your shoes.

We've found a fantastic YouTube video that perfectly demonstrates the setup and drills to fix your slice. It's a great visual guide to help you master your ball flight.
Why we love this video: It breaks down the concept of swing path in a simple, easy-to-understand way, and the drills are practical and effective.
To help you put this into practice, we've also created a downloadable PDF training plan that you can take to the range!

💪 Mike's Gear Corner #2: Muscle MX Recovery CBD Balm – The 30-Day Update
Alright, Golf Friends, Mike here with an update you didn't see coming.
Remember when I tested the Muscle MX Recovery CBD Balm a few days back? Well, I've been using it religiously for 20 days now, and something unexpected happened that changed my entire perspective on recovery.
The Game-Changer: Last Friday, I played 36 holes on Saturday (don't ask why), and normally I'd be hobbling around like a wounded deer for the next three days. But here's the kicker – I applied the CBD balm immediately after the round, again before bed, and once more Sunday morning.
The Result: I played another 18 on Monday feeling better than I had any right to. My lower back, which usually screams at me after long golf days, felt... normal. Not just "manageable" – actually normal.
What I've Learned After 20 Days:
Consistency is everything: Using it regularly (not just when you're already sore) makes a huge difference
The 30% new customer discount is real: I just signed up for their newsletter and got the code instantly
It's become my secret weapon: I now apply it before long practice sessions, not just after
Bottom Line: This isn't just about post-round relief anymore. It's about staying in the game longer and playing more often without paying the price later.
Ready to recover like a pro?
(Seriously, that 30% new customer discount makes this a no-brainer...)
